Flavorings

 

Flavorings are products added to foods to impart a smell and/or taste, or to enhance or modify the existing smell and/or taste of foods.

A flavoring is a product made from or consisting of flavoring substances, flavoring preparations, thermal process flavorings, smoke flavorings, flavoring precursors, or other flavorings or mixtures thereof, which is not intended to be consumed as is but is added to foods to impart or modify taste and/or smell.

Flavorings are used in many areas of the food industry to increase the desirability of products for consumers. In addition to the food sector, flavorings are also used in tobacco products, pharmaceuticals, oral care products like toothpaste and mouthwash, and animal feed.
