School Initiatives

Support has come from MEDER members for the “National Food and Beverage Alliance – Turkey Commitment,” which has been renewed and opened for signature by the Advertisers Association with the aim of helping children acquire healthy lifestyle habits and promoting these habits throughout society.

Many companies, including MEDER members, are working to provide reduced and/or portion-controlled options under the National Food and Beverage Alliance – Turkey Commitment to ensure children receive adequate and balanced nutrition and to combat obesity.

MEDER members do not sell their products in schools and remain committed to this pledge in all marketing communications, including advertising, directed at those products.

Companies will continue to work on one or more of the following options to contribute to consumers’ balanced diets:

  • Improving the formulation of existing products.
  • Offering reduced and/or portion-controlled options to the market in a way that will ensure children’s adequate and balanced nutrition and combat obesity.
  • There will be no communication regarding products in primary schools (up to age 12), except for what is specifically requested or approved by the school administration for educational purposes.
